The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is the primary unit responsible for research administration and oversight at MUHAS. The unit provide assistance to faculty during grants application and award management as well as general oversight of research activities at MUHAS. Specifically, the unit offers full circle of support in grant application process including advertisement of grant opportunities, review of applications and grants submission.
Furthermore, the unit provide oversight as well as financial, human resources, administrative and technical support in the management of awards, sub-awards and contracts. The OSP also works to enhance institutional research capacity through provision of research education aimed at stimulating and supporting faculty to apply for extramural grants. The OSP reports to the Directorate of Research and Publications.

MISSION OF OSP
The mission of OSP is to enhance and facilitate the university’s scholarly activities and external funding by providing service to all persons involved with externally sponsored programs in a timely and professional manner and by protecting the university’s investments in scholarly activities.
To achieve these goals;
- Develop into a model sponsored programs administration operation by moving toward more proactive operations and meeting research community needs.
- Develop and implement an effective training program for efficient utilization of administrative tools and processes to conduct sponsored projects.
- Strengthen understanding of OSP’s service roles at MUHAS.
- Recruit and retain quality personnel by providing an environment that supports individual career planning and accountability.
